Norths WIN at State Relay Meet
A 100% turnout and a 100% effort helped us WIN the Perpetual Shield and Trophy for the Highest Average Point Score at the State Relay Carnival on the 20th of July, 2008.

A special acknowledgment to our new club members and to swimmers who swam in events that they really hadn't done before or at least recently, including Pete Gregory, who I think has done nothing recently at all - You guys are great sports and great Norths Club Members. It's because of your efforts to have a go that we got those extra few points that made all the difference.
Winning a trophy like this isn't easy and it is a great testament to the new vibe and feel around and about our club!!

With so many of our swimmers away overseas, on holidays or unavailable at this time of the year, breaking 9 State Records, 5 National Records and 24 Club Records is a great indicator of the new depth the club is starting to build and the willingness of our members to keep working away at their swimming even if there are a few quicker swimmers in their age groups. This is a vital part of Master Swimming and the bonus is personal health, fitness and personal achievement.

I would like to say a special thanks to Alan Godfrey for all of his hard work in putting the teams together, getting the entries in correctly, following up, helping out on the day for NSW Swimming as well as for North's and along the way getting himself an individual national record and helping a few relay teams to National Records as well.

The good new for 2009 is that the State Relays will be held earlier on Sunday the 21st of June - I know many of you find the current July timing difficult with end of financial year, overseas travel times and school holidays.

So lets put this date into our Yearly Calender and see if we can't win the total point score next year!!
